Go West With Metro Style
The Helsinki metro is finally opening its new line to the west. So it's a good time to publish this post after planning it (too) for several years. The metro-outfit is made of shiny orange pieces; a raincoat, shoes and a clutch bag, the shape of which is especially metro-like. And something extra: glowing shoelaces and the escalator lights. Did you know? The benches at the stations are designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro . Antti Nurmesniemi and Börje Rajalin designed t he wagons. In early scetches the seats were not opposite, because the designers assumed that it wouldn't fit the Finnish mentality.
